Did you know the Pap smear test has been changed to the Cervical Screening Test?
Women who meet the eligibility criteria are now able to take a self collected Cervical Screening Test every five years, instead of a Pap test every two years.
Who is eligible?
You should consider a Cervical Screening Test if you:
- are aged 25 and 74
- are a woman or person with a cervix
- feel healthy and have no symptoms
If you are eligible, discuss self collection with your GP at your next appointment.
Cervical Screening could save your life
About 800 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in Australia each year, and around 80% of these cases occur in women who have never been screened or were not up to date with their screening.
Having regular screening tests is the best way to protect yourself.
